Senior Planning Officer (project coordinator), Finnish Cancer Centre

Would you like to be involved in developing cancer treatments and research across the EU?
The Finnish Cancer Centre (FICAN) and its coordinating unit are looking for a SENIOR PLANNING OFFICER (PROJECT COORDINATOR) for an ongoing EU project (ECHoS – Cancer Mission Hubs) at Helsinki University Hospital (HUS) for a fixed period of two (2) years.

Cancer is rapidly becoming more prevalent, and the problem is particularly pronounced in Finland due to the demographic structure of our society. The cost of cancer treatment is rising even faster. In addition, modern cancer treatments require an increasingly multi-professional approach and more individualised molecular diagnostics: recent improvements in the effectiveness of cancer treatments are thanks to this kind of multidisciplinary cooperation. The Finnish Cancer Centre (FICAN) was established to tackle this challenge in 2019. Its contracting parties comprise all municipal federations in Finnish hospital districts as well as five universities engaged in teaching and research in the fields of medical science. FICAN consists of a coordinating unit and several regional cancer centres.

One of FICAN’s objectives is to actively contribute to EU projects coordinated under the auspices of, for example, the Mission Cancer & Beating Cancer Plan. FICAN has recently got involved with an EU project called ECHoS – Establishing of Cancer Mission Hubs: Networks and Synergies, which was launched earlier in 2023.

The Finnish Cancer Centre (FICAN) and its coordinating unit are looking for a SENIOR PLANNING OFFICER (PROJECT COORDINATOR) for this ongoing EU project (ECHoS – Cancer Mission Hubs) at Helsinki University Hospital (HUS) for a fixed period of two (2) years.

The project coordinator will be responsible for promoting and coordinating FICAN’s role and responsibilities in the project, for liaising with international project partners and for contributing to other elements of FICAN’s work in the context of the project. The other Finnish partner in the project is the Cancer Society of Finland.

We are looking for a candidate who can start as soon as the terms of the contract have been agreed. The terms and conditions of employment and remuneration are determined by the Municipal General Collective Labour Agreement (KVTES). The position is subject to a probationary period of six (6) months.

The salary is EUR 4,369.32 per month.

This is your chance to become a champion of better lives! Please submit your application by 18 December 2023.
